How to appeal a suspended Google Business Profile
Who is this guide for?
Owners and managers of a business whose Google Business Profile has been suspended or disabled and who believe the profile should be reinstated. Google says that in that case you can submit an appeal. The person who owns or manages the profile signs in with their own Google Account for every step. Nobody needs to share a password with anyone to follow this guide. This guide cannot say whether Google will reinstate a profile. The only timeframe it gives is the one Google states, quoted exactly in step 13.
What does a suspended or disabled profile mean?
- Know what suspended or disabled means. Google says it may suspend or disable Business Profiles that don't follow its guidelines, and that if you believe your profile should be reinstated, you can submit an appeal. When Google removes a profile, the public can't go to the profile, and the owner and managers can't act on it. The owner and managers can ask Google to reinstate the profile. - Do not create a new Business Profile for the same business. Google puts this in an Important note at the start of its appeal steps. Source: Fix suspended or disabled profiles, Google Business Profile Help. Checked October 24, 2026.
Is the problem the profile or the Google Account?
- Find out whether the problem is the profile or the Google Account. Google says a merchant can lose access to a Business Profile, or have access restricted, for account level reasons. If a Google Account is not in good standing (for example it is disabled, suspended or deleted), the merchant must fix that before they can access the Business Profile. If an account is restricted from Business Profile activity, all Business Profiles associated with that account are suspended. What should you check before you appeal?
- Before you submit an appeal, make sure your profile follows all of Google's guidelines. Google's guidelines page says to represent your business as it is consistently represented and recognized in the real world across signage, stationery and other branding, make sure your address and/or service area is accurate and precise, choose the fewest number of categories it takes to describe your overall core business, and keep only one profile per business. - Check your business name against Google's name rules. Google says your name should reflect your business's real-world name, as used consistently on your storefront, website, stationery, and as known to customers. It says including unnecessary information in your business name isn't permitted and could result in the suspension of your Business Profile. Your name must not include marketing taglines, store codes, trademark or registered signs, fully capitalized words, business hours information, phone numbers or website URLs, or special characters or irrelevant legal terms (Google says that to include special characters or legal terms you must provide real-world proof, such as signage, business cards or invoices, that consistently shows them as part of your business name). - Look through the common issues Google lists. Google says its policy overview "outlines our key policies and explains the most common issues merchants may experience, but it is not comprehensive." The issues it names include: ineligible businesses (to qualify for a Business Profile, a business must make in-person contact with customers during its stated hours), a business that does not exist in the location claimed, a P.O. Box address (Google says profiles with a P.O. Box address will be suspended), identity changes, location changes, and unauthorized profile access. What evidence should you gather?
- Gather your evidence. In the appeals tool you can add optional evidence to support an eligible appeal. Google says evidence that can help strengthen your appeal includes an official business registration, a business license, tax certificates, and utility bills for the business such as electricity, phone, water and internet. For any document, check that the business name and address match the profile you want to appeal for. Source: Fix suspended or disabled profiles, Google Business Profile Help. How do you submit an appeal?
- Open the Google Business Profile appeals tool. Google describes it as the place to "View moderation decisions, submit appeals and check appeal status". If you are signed in to the Google Account related to the profile you want to appeal, select Confirm. To use a different account, select Switch account. Use your own Google Account, the one related to the profile. - Select the Business Profile that you want to appeal, then Continue. Select the decision that you want to appeal, then Continue. Google says the tool shows details about the decision: the date of the initial decision, the reason for the decision, a link to the violated policy, whether the decision can be appealed, and the status of the decision. - Add your information. Google says you can provide optional information to support your appeal. To upload supporting evidence, select Choose file. You can attach multiple files. - Know that an appeal can only be submitted once. Google's note reads "Appeals can only be submitted once." Check that you attached everything you want to include before you submit. Source: Fix suspended or disabled profiles, Google Business Profile Help. Checked October 24, 2026.
- Submit. Check the box stating "I'm ready to submit this appeal and confirm that all optional supporting evidence is attached." Then select Submit appeal. Google says it will review your appeal and send you an email with the appeal decision. Source: Fix suspended or disabled profiles, Google Business Profile Help. Checked October 24, 2026.
How long does Google say an appeal review can take?
- Do not submit a second appeal for the same issue while you wait. Google's page about appealing Business Profile content and profile restrictions says: "Appeal reviews and decisions can take up to 5 business days. Do not submit multiple appeals for the same issue before receiving a decision." This is Google's wording on that page. It is not a promise about the outcome of any appeal. How do you check the status of your appeal?
- Check the status of your appeal. Open the appeals tool, make sure you are signed in to the Google Account related to your Business Profile, and select the Business Profile for the appeal that you submitted. On the right, Google says you will find the status of the appeal: Submitted, Approved, Not Approved, Can't be appealed, or Eligible for appeal. What if your Google Account is restricted?
- If your Google Account is restricted, appeal that first. Google says an account restriction suspends the Business Profiles you manage and you can't create or claim other profiles. To lift the restriction, you can provide a reason and submit an appeal for your account on your My accounts page (the page Google links from its help article). Google says that once the account restriction is lifted, you can submit an appeal for your Business Profile to remove the Business Profile suspension. What if you manage more than 10 suspended profiles?
- If you manage more than 10 Business Profiles, Google gives a bulk appeal path. After you select the Business Profile and Continue, the tool asks "Are you requesting bulk reinstatement for 10 or more suspended locations?" Select Yes, then Continue. Attach a spreadsheet that contains the Business Profile ID for each suspended location, plus any supporting documentation such as business registration, license, tax certificates or utility bills. Google says the business name and address on each document must exactly match your registration, and that you receive one email notification with an appeal decision for the profile you selected in the tool. What if your appeal is denied?
- If your appeal is denied, there may be one more option. Google says: "Only if your reinstatement request is denied, we may be able to do an additional review to prove your eligibility." Google's form is called "Request additional review of a denied appeal". It asks whether you submitted an appeal in the appeals tool and whether it was denied, the date the profile was suspended or disabled, the official email address used to manage the profile, the Business Profile ID, copies of a business registration or license and a utility bill showing the same business name and address as the listing, and any additional context. The form tells you to avoid sending sensitive business documents. You cannot submit it until you have appealed in the appeals tool and the appeal is denied. What if the profile is reinstated and you have issues?
